Join the Oktoberfest festivities with a day of fun next to the Portneuf River in Lava to celebrate the arrival of fall and the harvest season. To keep with the theme of the festival we will offer many activities including great German food, and of course some great hand crafted beers and sarsaparilla!

Celebrate the arrival of fall and the harvest season by joining the 7th annual Oktoberfest celebration in Lava Hot Springs, Idaho. The family friendly event is full of food, activities, and entertainment. Proceeds go towards developing and building a bike and walk path for all to enjoy in the beautiful town of Lava Hot Springs!

We are kicking off the festivities on Friday evening October 7th, 2016 with a Beer Tasting event at Riverside Inn (255 E. Portneuf) from 5-7pm. Cost is $15 per person. Then Saturday the 8th in the morning with a Fun Run / Walk or Ride! 5k or 10k or anything in between! It begins and ends at the Lava Community Building (150 N. Center). The full 10k loop is scenic and oh so beautiful! It was chosen for this event to show participants the first section we would like to develop alongside for a bike and walk pathway. Everyone is welcome and costumes are encouraged. So slip on your lederhosen, dirndl or Halloween costume and lets see what character wins best costume and $20 in lottery tickets. All entrants are entered into a raffle for a chance at winning fun prizes! Costumed entrants double their chances at winning by getting an additional raffle entry. It doesnt matter if you finish the race first or last because anybody can win a prize! This event begins at 9 a.m. Arrive early to register. Entry fee is $10 for adults and $5 for those 17 and younger.

The celebration continues at the Lava Community Center from Noon 7 p.m. with Bavarian food, drinks, inflatables for the kids, and continuous music. At 2 p.m. Pumpkin Chuckin will be held at the park next to the Community Center. Whats more fun that catapulting a pumpkin and watching it rocket through the air until gravity takes hold if it? Instead of watching, try it yourself. For $5 per pumpkin you can try your skill at this event to see if your pumpkin can beat everyone elses. The crazy fun continues at 4 p.m. with Verruckt Hamsterrad aka Crazy Hamster Race will be held. Jump in the inflatable Hamster Sphere and get ready to race your competition by running as fast as you can in the sphere up a grass hill to the finish line. The best three hamsters win prizes. The entry fee for this once-in-a-lifetime experience is $5. Traditionally Oktoberfest ended with a horse race for the royal family. In Lava Hot Springs, we have our own versiona river duck race. The Duck Race Raffle tickets are 1 for $5 or 5 for $20. Prizes include lottery tickets and prizes from local business sponsors.
